What should I do if my viral load hasn’t dropped by week 4?

If my viral load isn’t undetectable by week 4, should I be worried that the treatment isn’t working or that it might not be effective for me? Is it normal for the virus to take longer to clear during therapy, or could this mean I might need a different treatment?

  1. Hi . Many people have undetectable viral loads at 4 weeks, but not everyone. There are lots of variables that can make progression a bit slower for some. We are not medical experts though, so I would definitely reach out to your doctor, if you haven't already. As hard as it is, try not to stress until you know more. Most likely, your doctor will want to see more results over a longer period before deciding whether to try something else. The best thing you can do is to keep super busy, knowing you are doing all you can to get rid of the virus. Keeping busy will help pass the time. Please keep me updated. I'll be thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)
