I tested positive for hep c antibodies but there is little if any active virus so do I have it?

  1. If you have less than 15 iu's (<15iu's) it is unlikely you have transmissible virus. That is the lower limit of the HCV/RNA test that most physicians use to declare a person cured. I am not sure what you mean about having a little active virus. This is really a question for your physician who knows which test he used. (Sue, Community Moderator)

Thanks for responding ,in 2009 I was in liver failure for 5 weeks and Doctors didn't know why so that is why they ran a whole bunch of blood tests to find out why thats when I tested positive for hep c antibodies but they said that was not what caused the liver failure I asked them the same question i asked you and was told it might kick back in because i had liver failure once it just confuses me the answer they came up with is I'm allergic to nsaids for the liver failure thanks again for responding
