Is it normal for lymphocytes in a CBC test at the end of Epclusa treatment?

I have about 3/4 days left of treatment with epclusa... My test results came back over the weekend and my lymphocytes were flagged for being high? Is this normal at the end of treatment my HCV has been undetectable since week 4.... I also was flagged for high glucose serum (I'm thinking this may be a result of drinking on a red bull before blood was taken). I know it's best to wait and talk to the doctor but I don't see him for 2 more weeks and everything I research is saying blood cancer, leukemia, etc. I guess Im just wondering if anyone else has this happen weeks after being told HCV was not detected.

  1. Mamallama, usually an elevated lymphocyte test means your body is fighting an infection. Rather than waiting and worrying, why don't you just give your doc a quick call and ask him/her if he is concerned about your lymphocyte count. That way you won't have to worry over the New Year. I think if it were anything serious to worry about there would be other markers in your lab results. Don't stress, call.

    1. Hi Mamallama92,
I know it is always scary to receive news that something in our blood work is out of normal limits, but try not to worry. First, lymphocytes are white blood cells that are part of our immune system. I don't know your blood work of course, but you can bet your immune system has been heavily at work for you especially during your treatment. It is always best to ask your doctor about this in relation to your liver and treatment. But, try not to rely on sources on the internet without consulting your doctor about your specific blood work and condition, it can lead to scary places that are not accurate and lead to unnecessary worry. If you drank a red bull prior to your blood work, that could certainly explain your high glucose serum. Prior to your appointment with your doctor, give them a call and ask them about your blood work. During and after my treatment I experienced some fluctuation in my red and white cell count, but it all went back into normal limits.

Many Congratulations on being at the finish line of treatment and already showing non-detected!!! You are going to get through this! You have a long beautiful life ahead of you my friend. Please keep us posted on how you're doing. We're here for you.
