How can my liver ultrasound show a normal liver?
How can my liver ultrasound show a normal liver? I tested positive for hep c, antibodies at 5365448 but my liver has no visible damage how is that possible. I have many symptoms I start treatment 10/13/17.
Hi Robyn. I believe the number you show here, has nothing to do with antibodies but is the amount of virus in your blood. Firstly, how much virus you have, or how little you have, is not prognostic and is not the cause of whether you have symptoms or not. A high viral load does not mean you are sicker than someone with a low viral load. The same goes for symptoms. You are very fortunate to have a good ultrasound. It takes many many years for the liver to be damaged so that it can be seen with imaging. I am happy you started treatment. Your chance of a cure is very close to 100% and with little damage you should eventually go back to feeling terrific. Please remember that anyone who has been exposed to the virus will always have antibodies. Antibodies cannot transmit the virus. Good luck. (Sue, Community Moderator)
Thank you for responding. I may have spoken a little too premature. Even though my ultrasound looks good my fribrosis is between F3 and F4. I am a charity care patient and told the doctor I drank a half a beer during a football game (my stupidity I know for drinking) he refused to order me the Harvoni for 6 more months until I prove my desire to live. I will not drink at all and I've not taken drugs since 1985 so I should be treated eventually

Although I am sure you are anxious to begin treating, another six months will do you no harm. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 in 1991 and didn't treat successfully until 2013 in a clinical trial for what is now called Viekira Pak. So don't worry about the wait. Stay away from the alcohol and let us know when you begin treatment. I wish you the very best.
Thank you for your input. I will remain alcohol free. I'm not a very good drinker anyway lol. Its good to hear another 6 months shouldn't be a problem.
Have you heard of anyone having pancreatic attacks after having done treatment for 13 weeks with the drug Solvoni?
Hi bhuber! Thanks for your question! I'm not sure that there exists a medication called Solvoni. There is a Harvoni and a Sovaldi, maybe one of those is what you're referring to? Either way, this may be a good question to ask your doctor, as different treatment options can affect individuals very differently.
