Does hep B usually reactivate when having hep C treatment?

  1. Hi Cindyjo, thank you for posting your question. We have this article that discusses hepatitis B reactivation risk with HCV treatment. A study in The Lancet journal found that there is some risk for hep B reactivation in patients co-infected with chronic or resolved HBV. Specifically this can happen when receiving direct-acting antiviral therapy for hep C. If you haven't already, we recommend discussing with your doctor risks for hep B reactivation if you're planning on starting treatment soon. They can best advise how you should proceed with treatment or take particular caution. Let us know what other questions you have! -Matt (Team Member)
