covid vaccine

I am afraid to take the vaccine as hep c is bad enough and think it might complicate things more, I have had treatment and will be finding out in January if i am Hep c free.

  1. Cindy, you have every reason to feel this way. It must be a very difficult decision to make, especially with a condition like hep C. Some folks in the community may share their perspectives, but we encourage you to discuss any concerns you may have with a health care provider. I thought you might find this article helpful; it is about living with HepC in the COVID-19 era, and includes many great resources. https://hepatitisc.net/living/covid-vaccine-story

    1. Thank you for sharing. I definitely understand your concerns. I had concerns as well because I received a Hep C organ transplant and had multiple complications during and post transplant, so I asked my physician and my transplant team about my concerns. My transplant team took my case in front of the transplant committee and agreed that I should wait to receive the Covid vaccine. When I get their approval, I will receive the vaccine, but until then I will wait and take the necessary precautions until the time arrives to have the vaccine. Definitely discuss your concerns with your doctor. Leslie (Community Moderator)
