What would you do?

Hello All,

So I contracted hep c in 2015 from sexual intercourse. So from 2015-2017 my doctor did an rna test on me for those 3 years and they all came back negative. Also I had no signs of liver scaring…so he told me I to live my life and not to worry about it. Well now I have been feeling fatigued, my eyes look a little yellowish and are also watery, also have itchy skin and abdomen pain. I think these are all signs of hep c but I don’t have the virus to my knowledge. my bilirubin was a little high last time but doc said it wasn’t high enough to cause any worry. I’m not sure what I should do, I’m scared! I thought I moved passed this point in my life but I guess not.

  1. Hi , This must be so difficult for you, I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. Have you considered getting a second opinion from another doctor? If not, I would strongly encourage you to do so, if you are able to. We can't diagnose or give medical advice, but the symptoms you listed do sound consistent with those of hep C. If you do have hep C, the sooner you get treatment, the better the outcome will be. Hang in there! - Jessica, Team Member

    1. Did you also get tested for Hep B?

      1. Thank you for asking that question. However, in my case, I willingly accepted a Hep C donor’s heart for my transplant and at the time I didn’t contract Hep B. This is a great question to ask your hepatologist or gastroenterologist. Feel free to ask more questions in the future. Leslie (Community Moderator)
