Getting a tattoo with hep c??

Is it ok to get a tattoo if you have hep C?

  1. Hi Jane doe, thank you for sharing your question with the community. Getting a tattoo causes small punctures in the skin that can cause bleeding. Hepatitis C spreads when infected blood enters the bloodstream of someone not exposed to the virus. If considering a tattoo, it's important to find a reputable tattoo artist who works in a clean and sterile environment. While you aren't required to disclose your hep C status, you may choose to just so the artist knows to wear gloves or take additional precaution to prevent blood spreading.

I'm sharing a two page PDF from the Liver Foundation that shares some more information: "What You Need to Know About Tattoos and Hepatitis C". Let us know what other questions you have!
