Me and my husband were intimate while on my period... will he have hep C?
I just found out I have hep C, well I also realized (during the initial shock of finding out) that Me and my husband (we recently got married) were intimate while on my period before I found out... will he have it now? I'm terrified and extremely upset about all this. We have talked about it and discussed what needs to be done now to be on the safe side, we will be setting up an appointment for him...it's just my anxiety is through the roof right now....does he have it? Like would he know if he gotten it? Someone help me... my anxiety is at its worst right now.
Hi Lunamoon, we understand your anxiety about possible exposure happening before you knew you had hep C. Your husband getting tested is the right call to make, there is some concern for transmission risk. Hep C is spread when blood from someone living with the virus gets exposed to the blood of someone without it. While transmission by sex is low with one partner and protection, risk for exposure seems possible given what you shared. I hope you can both get connected with treatment.
