Can we determine, when was first hepatitis c virus inter our body through PCR result? Any formula? My PCR result is 1375627 IU/ml

  1. Hi Rauf,
You asked a great question, however, due to how the hepatitis C virus works, it may be hard to determine the exact time of transmission unless you know for certain of an incident of exposure. Hep C is known as the silent disease due to it can live in the body for a long time before the patient has symptoms. Viral load can fluctuate, as well as liver enzymes. A liver specialist like a hepatologist, gastroenterologist or infectious disease specialist can help determine approximately how long you have had hep C and your liver condition. I hope you will be able to seek treatment soon. Keep us posted on how you're doing. Please let us know if you have other questions and concerns. We're here for you.

    1. Hi Rauf, If you can pinpoint a risk factor that you have, you may be able to make an educated guess. For example, if you had a blood transfusion before 1992, that is likely your answer. Or if you ever used IV drugs and shared works, that would be a way to answer your question, as well. The bottom line is that it doesn't matter how or when you got hepatitis C, You deserve treatment. If you do not have insurance, you may want to consider calling Help4Hep at 877-435-7443. They may be able to help you access care. The call and help are free. Good luck, Rauf.
