Hep c from dollar bill

Hey all! Had a quick question... my co-worker tried coke for the first time a few weeks ago at a party. I haven’t done it for 10 years, but felt like it that night. Since I already knew there was a small risk in getting Hep C from sharing, I had her use my bill (since neither of us have it). However, what I didn’t think about was the fact that she did line or two before I got there and once throughout the night with the shared bill everyone was using. Anyway, what is the chance that if she hypothetically got Hep C from the bill and then transferred it to me when she used my personal bill later that night after using the shared one a few times? Thanks ahead of time!

  1. Hi bigchevy24, hepatitis C is transmitted when blood from someone infected with the virus gets into the bloodstream of someone without it. If neither of you had blood exposure during the night, transmission is likely quite low. I recommend that if you're feeling concerned about hep C to get a blood test conducted. I hope this provides some comfort. Best, Matt (Team Member, HepatitisC.net)
