Taking IGF-1 supplements??

Hi!! Anyone know if taking IGF-1 is dangerous with hep-c??

  1. Hi there. I am sorry, I do not know what IGF-1 is. That would be a good question for your doctor. Stay well. ~ Sue, Community Moderator

    1. Hi Rattlehead6669, thanks for sharing your question. We cannot provide medical advice and recommend talking with your doctor or healthcare team if you haven't already. As a liver disease, hepatitis C can impair the liver's function and ability to metabolize medicine and supplements. Have you been able to get in touch with your healthcare team? -Matt (Team Member, HepatitisC.net)

      1. Hi Rattlehead6669!

As everyone has said ALWAYS speak with your doctor first and foremost!
I was just curious, if I may ask, are you taking IGF-1 to address diabetes? Also, do have liver disease? And lastly are you considering treatment for your HepatitisC? Insulin-like growth factor can have many undesirable side effects to include harm to organs; the liver being a big one. Also, we, with HepatitisC often become insulin resistant and/or diabetic and IGF-1 can cause a sudden drop in our glucose. So definitely NOT medical advice (we are not doctors) but just a little information my friend. PLEASE speak with your doctor ok? With care, Randy, Community Moderator
