Mavyret & Akathisia
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has Akathisia? I’ve been suffering from it for well over eight years so I’m apprehensive about taking mavyret but know I need to do this. I had a blood transfusion in the early nineties, have some tattoos from a reputable place so not sure how I got hep-c. All I know is I have to get treated and I have the meds, I’m terrified of what it will do to my nervous system as I’ve been suffering so bloody long. Does anyone have here have Akathisia ?

I am sorry you are dealing with both Hep C and Akathisia. Do you have any idea what may have caused your akathisia? Has any treatment helped lessen your symptoms?
So, is your biggest concern with taking Mavyret that it may cause even more issues with your nervous system? If so, I think that's a valid concern. However, the majority of side effects people experience taking Mavyret are more digestive or liver related. Not that having any side effects are *good*, but in your case, you may have less to worry about when it comes to your nervous system.
Again, I realize my words can really quell your fears, as there is always that "what if" in the back of our minds when we start new treatments. Like, "What if I'm the ONE person who has some really rare complication from this treatment??"
I get that. It's okay to feel scared. If you haven't done so already, I would talk to your doctor some more about your concerns.
