Daniel Winterbottom lives in Seattle, Washington where he is a professor of landscape architecture at the University of Washington. One of his foci is the design of, and research on, therapeutic and restorative gardens. He recently co-authored Therapeutic Gardens: Designing Healing Gardens. He was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in 2002 and underwent successful treatment in 2017. He understands the stigma surrounding the disease and uncertainty about accepting the diagnosis. He hopes that through his writings and the design and implementation of supportive, enabling environments, that those suffering from a spectrum of illnesses and conditions may experience a restoration of hope and fostering of resilience.
