Serious concern over siblings wt. .loss post harvoni. Apparently screws with your dna at the rNA level and metabolism does change within first year and can barely keep wt.. on. Therapeutic responses from this forum is to be expected. Self educate w/ Drs., pharmacists, medication inserts and look up words you might not be familiar with to make inteligent inquiries to research hospitals, pharmacies. Helpapparently is not here. Al

Glad you are doing well, with Harvoni treatment then cure. You only had Hep. C for 6 months…and received treatment…what stage were you in? I have had it for 30 years or so. You can read a personal story I wrote in the Living With Hep. C . section, entitled,”Living with Hepatitis C for 30 years…by ruthfether. I have yet to receive treatment but am working towards it. I just have one more procedure to undergo first.

Reply to ruthfether. I had chronic hepc for 6 years not 6 months. For the whole time I was infected I didn’t have any symptoms other than extreme weight loss. And really no appetite. I wasn’t sick at my stomach or anything but I just didn’t have a desire to eat. This was after I loss the weight. But this past year I was treated with Harvoni and I am cured.
Now the weight has come back with out really changing my diet. Also during this time I’ve been in addiction recovery and my health is so much better. My doctor said it could be the combination of being cured and being clean and sober causing the weight gain.

Many people are buying the treatment legally from Australia for 20K..We in Ireland who cannot work because of some medical reason are getting the treatment for free on the healthcare system. So i am on disability from a fall so i got it for free..God Bless those who cnt afford it

I am a military veteran and get all my health care needs at the VA Hospital. They offered free treatment to any veteran with hepc with Harvoni. So naturally I said hell yes. 2 months later I was cured. Harvoni has a 98% cure rate and I only had to take one pill a day for 8 weeks. Harvoni is expensive but some insurances cover it. There is also other new drugs out now that is not expensive. You need to talk with your doctor about what options you have etc. Good luck!!

    Hey,
I had hep C for about 7 yrs. I done the HARVONI last year, one tab a day for only 8-weeks. I had type 1A. I have put on a lot of weight, i was so thin. The doc said after about 2 years my metabolism would get back to normal and i would not have to worry about the weight gain..Good Luck!!

I gained weight and can’t lose it. I completely changed my ways. I eat very healthy, walk 7 to 8 miles a day and ride my bike alot. I have like 18 or 19 more days on Vosevi. I failed on 8 weeks of Harvoni. Harvoni has like 98% cure rate if you do 12 weeks they don’t mention cure rate at 8 weeks. I am clear of Hep C a 2nd time I hope I can lose my extra lbs when my meds run out.

I gained weight too.. Diet and exercise didn’t work, I didn’t stop gaining weight until after I finished Epclusa and the hepc was gone. It’s been a few months now, I’m not gaining weight but I’m not loosing it either. I’m hoping the weight will go away, at least some of it

I am not gaining but my energy levels are way higher. I kinda slowed down on the exercise because its been raining for like 2 months. Today was the first time I have seen the sun in forever. Time to get back to it.
