Ways to Make Difference with Hepatitis C

The one thing each hepatitis C patient has in common is their voice. We all have similar, yet different, journeys with hepatitis C. However, we all have the power of experience to share with others.

Here are some ways that we can help make a difference in the fight against liver disease and hepatitis C…

Spread knowledge!

Share the facts about hepatitis C with friends, family, co-workers, and others around us. Explain the importance of getting tested and treated. Sharing can help save someone’s life.

Get connected

Join a support group and share your experience with someone else to offer support and understanding.

Start walking

Participate in a 5k or 10k walk to benefit liver disease. Participate in other general walks/races, but wear hepatitis C awareness on your shirt to show your support and use your voice about hepatitis C.

I’ve participated in several races. Some with the American Liver Foundation and some local races. Prior to being cured of hepatitis C, I wrote on the back of my shirt, “Hepatitis C Lives with Me, I Don’t Live with It!”. In later races, I’ve written on my shirt, “Hepatitis C No Longer Lives with Me.” Let people know that you can overcome hepatitis C.

Share your story

Begin writing about your experience with hepatitis C. Share on social media or start a website. Find an established website and organization where you can share your hepatitis story.

Donate financially to causes and organizations related to liver disease. Raise awareness of the importance of signing up to become an organ donor.

Be supportive

If you are a family member or friend of someone with hepatitis C, learn how you can show them support and help them in practical ways that makes a big difference.

Get treated and get cured

First and foremost, be proactive. Get tested for hepatitis C and seek treatment and get cured. There is great hope for getting beyond hepatitis C.

These are just some ideas in which you can use your voice to fight hepatitis C. What ways are you fighting hepatitis C?
